What is Passive Tracking?
Passive tracking allows you to use the Wellframe pedometer to track all of your physical activity passively. This means that Wellframe will automatically record all of your steps throughout the day (as long as you carry your smartphone with you!).
This means that all physical activity will be tracked in steps. When you reach your Step Goal, you'll get a notification and the task will automatically be marked as Complete on your daily checklist. PLEASE NOTE: There may be a time lag between the time you reach your goal and the time your receive the notification! Additionally, you should not notice any changes to your phone's battery life when you enable passive tracking.
- You will need Android 4.4 or newer to use this feature.
- If you have 5.0 or newer - this is easy!
- If you have 4.4 to 5.0 - make sure to download and set up Google Fit first
- You will need to accept permissions from another app, Google Fit, to make Passive Tracking work in Wellframe.
- During the quick setup, you'll need to make sure you choose the same Google account in Google Fit and Wellframe.
How can I set up Passive Tracking?
Setting up this feature is quick and easy! Once you have downloaded Wellframe, open the app and tap your Physical Activity task. You'll immediately see a few prompts asking for your permission to track steps passively through Google Fit. Wellframe uses the information that Google Fit (another app on your Android) captures throughout the day.
Please note: you may not have enabled physical activity tracking within Google Fit. If this is the case, you will be prompted by Wellframe to change the permissions in the Google Fit app. Google Fit will prompt you to enter information such as your height and weight: you can SKIP this step. Once you enable physical activity tracking in Google Fit, Wellframe will be able to view and store your activity information.

If you are not seeing any of these prompts when you open the Physical Activity task, it could be because you are using an older device that is not compatible with this new feature. If you do not have a compatible device, don't worry! You'll be able to continue using Active Tracking the same way as before, where you hit Start to begin recording your progress, and Stop when you finish your exercise.
